The National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition is an annual event organized by the British Computer Society Sri Lanka (BCSSL) Section. The avowed objectives of the NBQSA competition are threefold : To provide recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations in Sri Lanka who/which have contributed to the development of ICT, to create a window to gain international recognition for locally developed ICT products and to improve standards and the quality of local ICT products and services to be able to compete in the international market place.

Sri Lanka ICT innovations strike gold at APICTA

Sri Lanka won 5 awards at the Asia Pacific Information Communication Technology Alliances (APICTA) Annual Competition and Awards 2008 at the awarding ceremony held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 15th November, bringing great honour to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka stood the test of not only the highest calibre of the contestants placed before this prestigious international competition, but also proved the excellent judging and selection process as five out of the 11 nominees from Sri Lanka were placed at the APICTA in the same order of ranking as was awarded at the national event.

National Best Quality Software Awards 2008

The National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition is an annual event organized by the British Computer Society Sri Lanka (BCSSL) Section. The competition serves to showcase and benchmark Sri Lankan ICT products, which fulfills a much needed requirement of the software industry in this highly competitive globalised economic structure. The competition has been conducted by the BCS Sri Lanka Section since 1998 to recognize and honor significant technological developments in the software industry.
 

Procedure for Final Round Judging of Tertiary Student's Projects

The final round of judging is to happen on the 5th of September, 2008 at the ADTMC Lab, 3rd Floor - University of Colombo School of Computing.

If you are among the selected groups for this round, please make a note of the following guidelines.

You need to be present 30 minutes before your scheduled presentation time.

  1. The criteria used for evaluation will be the APICTA criteria.

NBQSA 2008 Tertiary Teams/Participants list and schedule is available for download

NBQSA 2008 judging process is to commence shortly starting from the 2nd of September 2008. The list of tertiary teams/participants and the schedule for demonstrating to the judging panel can be found in the attached pdf document.

NBQSA 2008 applications entry extended due to security situation

The Application closing deadline for BCS NBQSA 2008 has been extended till the 5th of August 2008, 12:30pm. This decision was made due to the security situation put in place during the SAARC conference.

Calling for articles for the NBQSA 2008 Souvenir

The National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition,being the only National competition of its type in Sri Lanka recognizing exceptional local ICT achievements, will mark its Tenth Anniversary this year.

Articles are now invited from individuals and institutions, in related topics, for the the special souvenir booklet of NBQSA 2008.

NBQSA 2008 is now underway

The British Computer Society Sri Lanka Section is pleased to announce that applications are called for the National Best Quality Software Awards - 2008 competition. The NBQSA 2008 marks its 10th Anniversary this year and will be held on 17th October 2008. The application closing date is 15th July 2008.

Winners of NBQSA 2008 will be eligible to participate in APICTA 2008 competition in November 2008.

Sri Lanka’s first ever gold at APICTA

The tertiary student project of Nuwan Senaratna from University of Colombo won the gold at NBQSA 2006, surpassing 78 entries that included those from the University of Moratuwa, the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology and the Informatics Institute of Technology. As a result, it was selected to represent Sri Lanka in the same category at APICTA (Asia Pacific ICT Awards) 2006 in Taipa, Macao which consisted of 18 entries from 15 countries, including tech-giants like Australia, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

The Showcase of ICT Products of Sri Lanka

The British Computer Society Sri Lanka Section is pleased to announce that nominations are open for the National Best Quality Software Awards 2007 competition. This is an invitation for you to enter the competition.

The competition is open to organisations, groups and individuals in Sri Lanka having Software products developed in the country. Download application forms and apply before the closing date.

The competition is being conducted for sixteen Award Categories ranging from Applications and Infrastructure Tools to In-House Applications.
