National Best Quality Software Awards 2010

12th National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition is planning to be held during the first week of October this year. It has been identified as the only outstanding ICT event in Sri Lanka which recognizes, benchmarks, evaluates innovative Sri Lankan ICT products. NBQSA is organized annually by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT - Sri Lanka section.

Furthermore, the competition serves to showcase Sri Lankan ICT products, which is a much needed requirement in the current globalized economical environment and NBQSA has been the only National event of its type, to honor significant technological advancements in the country, since 1998.

The key objectives of the NBQSA competition are; to provide recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations in Sri Lanka who/which have contributed to the development of ICT; to create a window to gain international recognition for locally developed ICT products and to improve standards and the quality of local ICT products and services to be able to compete in the international market place.

This year NBQSA will cover over 16 categories and will feature new additions such as “Best Products” using the different type of technologies such as Microsoft, Open Source and the “Youngest Entrepreneurship of the Year”. The “ICT Achiever of the Year” will be recognized this year as well.

The distinguished judging panel comprises of industry experts and the senior lecturers of leading Sri Lankan Universities who have been selected based on their ICT knowledge and experience. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented in these categories provided that there are winners in these categories. The NBQSA 2010 would culminate in a fabulous awards night/gala dinner at the end. The award winners will be eligible to take part in APICTA Competition from 10-15th October 2010 which will be held in Malaysia.
