NBQSA 2007 Winners for the APICTA 2007 in Singapore

Winners of the National Best Quality Software Awards competition 2007 conducted by the Sri Lanka Section of the British Computer Society will be eligible to compete in the Asia Pacific ICT (APICTA) Awards competition to be held in Singapore from 26th to 29th November, 2007.
The National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition is an annual event organized by the British Computer Society Sri Lanka Section (BCSSL). The competition has been conducted in Sri Lanka by the BCSSL since 1998 to recognize and honor significant technological developments in the Software Industry.

The NBQSA competition provides recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations in the country who/which have contributed to the development of ICT. It also serves as a window to gain international recognition for locally developed ICT products. NBQSA improves the standards and the quality of Sri Lankan ICT products & services to enable them to compete in the international market place.

APICTA is Asia Pacific ICT Awards conducted by the member economies of the Association of Asia Pacific ICT Trade/Professional Organization. The objective of APICTA is to Develop and Promote the ICT Industry in the region by recognizing and rewarding ICT companies & Individuals for their excellence in delivery of products & services through an annual awards event.

This year the NBQSA 2007 competition will cover eleven categories of ICT products and projects. The competition for eleven commercial categories and the Tertiary Student Project category will be conducted by the BCS Sri Lanka Section.

The commercial category competition is open to any Sri Lankan organization, group or individual which/who has/have developed ICT products in Sri Lanka. The tertiary category is open to an individual or group of students from Sri Lankan Tertiary Education Institutes.

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented in each category if the entries meet required standards. Award winners will be eligible to participate at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) 2007 to be held in Singapore from 26th to 30th November 2007. Further, it should be noted that the gold medal for the Tertiary Student Project Category at APICTA 2006 was won by Nuwan Senaratne, a final year student at University of Colombo School of Computing. This year, the BCS Sri Lanka Section aims to better last year’s performance in all categories at APICTA in Singapore.

The awards presentation of NBQSA 2007 will be held at Water’s Edge, Battaramulla on 05th October 2007 amidst a gathering of over 500 guests and IT professionals.
